Last Saturday, Northcote Festival took place at Energiehuis in Dordrecht (NL). It was the third edition of the annual hardcore festival, which doubled in size compared to last year. Twenty-three bands shared two stages in the span of ten hours. The international amosphere characterized this years festival; there were bands from the United States, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, Italy and Poland, and 300 visitors traveled to The Netherlands from Belgium, Germany and France. It’s the perfect new standard for future editions according to the organization:

“Last year was the first sold out edition of Northcote Festival. In our eyes, the amosphere was so perfect that it seemed hard to recreate that same vibe in this new venue,” says organizer Patrick Batenburg. “However, Northcote Festival 2014 was amazing and it beat last year on each level! We couldn’t have done it without all the visitors, bands and organizations, so a major thanks goes out to all of them. I’m still perplexed at just how good this years edition was.”

Both local and international acts made a good impression at Northcote Festival 2014. Deathtrap from Rotterdam opened up the fest, followed by locals Run Like Hell, Pantah and ClearxPath. Forsaken from Wales impressed at the Talent Stage, as well as local band Hawser and Risk It! from Germany. Redemption Denied started a promising set which was put to a hold after the first song, when a visitor got seriously injured. After a check-up in the hospital, he was released with minor bruises.

Wolf Down from Germany took over the Power Stage after Redemption Denied finished their set and received great interaction from the audience. Code Orange Kids and Twitching Tongues from the United States co-headlined Northcote Festival 2014, and treated the crowd with shows that they won’t easily forget.

Onwards to next year.

Northcote Festival Announces First Names
2014 Edition

Third edition of Dutch hardcore festival bigger, better, stronger

Northcote Festival is proud to announce its third edition in 2014. On March 29th hometown Dordrecht will be transformed into the national - if not European - capital of hardcore music yet again. With the sold-out 2013 edition still fresh in our memories, the organization is eager to present its plans for a bigger festival at Energiehuis with two stages.

Two of Dordrecht’s main venues, Bibelot and Popcentrale - Northcote’s original home base - moved house in 2013 and found residence at cultural hotspot Energiehuis. The new location offers the stages of both venues for alternating sets, in-house food, and most importantly, more bands. To celebrate this growth we invited back some old friends, but also plenty of new faces, some of which who will make their debut appearance in the Netherlands.

We are thrilled to welcome back German heavyweights Risk It! as the headliner of Northcote 2014. Their performance last year was remarkable and they have earned their stripes through hard work and dedication. Scottish sons of hardcore in War Charge are bringing their heavy jams with a no-nonsense attitude to the table, along with their friends in Forsaken (UK), Bleak Reality (UK) and GRIM (BE), who’ll be touring Europe together at the time. HAWSER (NL), Bitter Verses (DE) and Dull Eyes (DE) represent the young, up and coming hardcore class. Many other bands will be added to the line-up.

Tickets are available for pre-orders as of today for 15 euros. There is a special combi-deal available including a limited edition (50 pieces) collaboration t-shirt with hardcore webzine Legends Arising. Get yours here.
